Roger! Behind the scenes of REGENT's radio test

May 5, 2025

We recently tested the radio systems that power real-time communication aboard our full-scale Viceroy prototype.

This range testing verifies that our telemetry radios on board the vehicle can accurately transmit data back to the team in real-time, ensuring every decision we make during our sea trials is informed, safe, and precise.

These sea trials mark a pivotal milestone for REGENT, as we conduct on-water testing of the world’s first full-scale, passenger-carrying electric seaglider.

The 12-passenger Viceroy prototype operates exclusively over water in three modes: floating on its hull, foiling above the waves on hydrofoils, and flying in ground effect within one wingspan of the water’s surface. The trials, conducted in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, follow months of rigorous subsystem testing and are set to culminate in the first human seaglider flight mid-year.
